SEATTLE (AP) — The Texas Rangers’ potential playoff pitching staff took a hit Friday after right-hander Jon Gray was placed on the 15-day injured list with a forearm strain.“Probably would be a situation where he could skip a start and go but we don’t want to be short at this time of pitchers. So we had to put him on the IL,” Bochy said.Gray had imaging following his start against the Los Angeles Angels this week, which revealed a grade 1 strain, manager Bruce Bochy said. Gray did some light throwing following his initial scans, but didn’t feel any better. The Rangers were planning to start Gray on Saturday against Seattle in a game that could have significant playoff implications. Bochy didn’t say who will start in his place.Gray is 9-8 with a 4.12 ERA in 29 starts this season and is second on the team in innings pitched (157 1/3) and strikeouts (142). Gray had made every scheduled start this season until now.“It really wasn’t coming around to the point where we would put him ...León marino escapa de su espacio en el Zoológico de Central Park debido a las inundaciones en Nueva York

Walter Ellis is a Northern Ireland-born, France-based journalist and commentator. He’s the author of “The Beginning of the End: The Crippling Disadvantage of a Happy Irish Childhood.”The thoughts of Henry VIII, king of England from 1509 to 1547, on the subject of today’s electric cars and gas boilers can only be imagined. What is certain is that he took a robust line on the royal prerogative. When Henry’s first chief minister, Cardinal Wolsey, died of natural causes on his way to York to answer the charge of treason, he was considered lucky. His successor Thomas Cromwell was later beheaded, without trial, after failing to satisfactorily align himself with his royal master’s wishes. Fast forward 500 years, and Britain’s current monarch and chief minister are at loggerheads again — though this time the altercation is over the pace of change in the drive toward Net Zero, and it is rather unlikely to prove fatal. Nevertheless, it has set tongues wagging at the Palace of Westmi...Orioles, back to playing meaningless September games — this time for a good reason — fall to Red Sox, 3-0

On the 160th day, they rested.Well, not exactly. The Orioles still had to play the Boston Red Sox on Friday, less than 24 hours after they popped corks and fired up cigars to celebrate clinching their first American League East championship since 2014. But after fighting tooth and nail for 159 games to capture baseball’s most competitive division, they finally came to Camden Yards facing minimal pressing business. With their 2-0 victory Thursday night, they also clinched home-field advantage all the way to at least the World Series. They knew they would not have to play another high-stakes game until Oct. 7.The Orioles (100-60) did not win Friday despite another sharp outing from starter John Means, falling 3-0 to a Red Sox team that also had little at stake. None of the patrons at Camden Yards seemed to care much, treating the evening as a casual opportunity to celebrate a team that has already accomplished so much.It was a brand of meaningless September baseball the Orioles ...Hanover ends losing streak to Plymouth South

PLYMOUTH – Hanover had a little revenge on their minds. After losing four straight to their Patriot League Fisher Division foe, the Hawks blew the doors off Plymouth South 42-7.Last season Hanover (4-0) went down 21-0 but marched back to tie things up with 12 seconds left to go on a Ben Scalzi touchdown. But a failed two-point conversion gave the Panthers the win.In this one, Scalzi didn’t leave anything to chance as the senior captain threw for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wideout John McDonald pulled down 11 passes for 151 yards, two touchdowns, and added a third score on the ground early in the fourth quarter.“This is huge because it is our first league game and we are not looking ahead but we knew this was a big one to start league play,” said McDonald. “I think it is just confidence because I know if I get open on my route (Scalzi) is going to put it where it’s supposed to be. I have a lot of trust in him.”Scalzi found Sebastian Brown on an 11-play opening series to ge...Latest news
